Barnabus
So! Yesterday I visited my boyfriend's church, and I heard a very interesting message. It was about helping others excel. We all know helping others is generally a good thing, but are you willing to help others even if you know they will become greater than you? Now, of course, God views things rather differently than we do. No one is any better than anyone else to him. But what I really learned yesterday was that Barnabus (yes, it is a silly name- but aren't all names at some point?) was a great Christian and leader of the church, and he was the only one who took the new Paul under his wing. Paul, formerly Saul, had been the key persecutor of all the Christians until he had an encounter with Jesus that totally changed him. All the other Christians were, well, scared! Paul had been the one killing them off, and now he wants to join them? Was it a trick or was he serious? But Barnabus could see that God was going to use Paul, so he encouraged him and greatly helped him. Without Barnabus, Paul would not have become as "great" of a person as many view him. And even though many regard Paul as such a great Christian, I really like Barnabus here! So, are you willing to be a Barnabus? Maybe not everyone will know you, you may not get famous, you may not get all you "deserve" for your work, but God knows, and He will reward you. Stop being jealous that someone else has more money or got that promotion. Instead, be happy for them! If you teach someone to do something, and they end up becoming famous for it, rejoice for them! Just because you maybe have the same ability, doesn't mean that things will turn out the same for you! Only God knows best! Sometimes things don't seem fair to us, but God always knows best.
